Ethical and Legal Issues in Technology

Over the past years, technology has given us the ability to do more than we have ever done. Its information at our finger tips and makes learning so much fun when used correctly. Although technology is a great aid, there are many concerns about their use in classrooms. In Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to Be Socially and Ethically Aware Producers and Consumers of Interactive Technologies, these concerns are discussed. Technology is a great addition to the classroom and teachers must learn the ethical and legal use of it. Teacher must be prepared to take the proper actions when needed. Not only that, but they must be able to use and understand the technology their selves. One occasion, a student misused the opportunity of technology in the classroom by changing his grades and another was viewing an inappropriate site. To keep the use of technology strictly used in ethical and legal ways, some schools have installed filtering software. Teachers are taught how to deal with cases in the classroom to ensure ethical and legal actions are taken.

Students are taught by doing projects to better understand the use of technology.
Not only is the students internet activity important, but the whole issue of plagiarism plays a big role in technology. Students have all this information right in front of them and for some it is much easier to just copy and paste for an assignment. Teachers have a lot of responsibility when it comes to their students using technology in the classroom.
