Technological Tools for assisting students with special and/or diverse needs and noting the specific learning outcomes for each Technology:

http://www.iser.com/special-needs-software.html

This is a great website for someone looking for information and tools for teaching students with special/diverse needs. The website offers different links based on the need you are looking for the student to concentrate on. The website is more of a directory that list software for many learning disabilities, such as dyslexia, ADD/ADHD issues, vision problems and auditory problems (just to name a few). What is very cool about this directory is that it not only provides links to special needs software, but also to centers with their local listings section. This is a great website for teachers, tutors and parents to come to and find software that will help defeat the learning difficulty that their student/child is being challenged by.

Technological Tools for Assisting Students with Special and/or Diverse Needs noting the specific learning outcomes for each technology- E. Dunh

Technological Tools for Assisting Students with Special and/or Diverse Needs and Noting the Specific Learning Outcomes for each Technology

The article I found is, "Assistive Technology / Special Education Software for Schools, Kids, and Adults with Special Needs". On their site, they have an organized lists of different learning tools that can help adults and children. They include disorders such as dyslexia, ADD/ADHD issues, vision problems, auditory problems, as well as other disabilities, on their site. They mention many different learning tools, but one that caught my eye was, Rock N Go. This is a tool that combines math with music. The site states that "Rock n go products are designed to be stimulating and fun, which encourages increased focus and attention". I think this would be an effective learning tool because it encourages students to focus and pay attention with their school work. It also has an effect on their audio, visual, and small motor skills. In this site, it mentions that Rock N go, is most beneficial for students with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) / Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism, or Dyslexia. I feel that this would be a helpful tool for students because it can be a fun way to help students who have these disorders learn math.

Click N color is another program mentioned on this webiste that promotes fine-motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and a calming sensation. This would be most beneficial for special education students of all ages. This can also be helpful to use to calm children, coloring is a quiet artisitc thing that usually done with a lot of concentration. This program could help students stay calm while working on something.

This website is full of great information and tools to help teach students with special needs.  Some special needs the tools specifically address are for those with learning disabilities like dyslexia, ADD/ADHD, vision problems, and auditory problems.  The website divides the technological tools into specific categories of the lesson it teaches.  Some of the examples include teaching through music (such as mathematical lessons and English ones), an online coloring book that helps teach motor skills involving the mouse and hand-eye coordination, and audible lessons to teach those who have reading comprehension difficulty.
I think this website is a very helpful tool because not only does it provide direct links to software, it also provides search engines specifically related to technological lessons for special needs students.

I chose this site because it is a great site for educator to veiw not only their our own schools preformance, but to compare it to others and see where they are lacking. This site allows an educator to select their state. After this selcetion a new window displays that states board of education site. From the site educators are able to selcet their school, the year they want to view, the type of report they want to veiw (reading test, math test) their county/city, grade level they want to view, and subject. Some even gives the option to view reports by selected gender, ethnicity, and special groups such as migrant, limited English proficiency, and so on. With in each state you can compare your school to the schools in your county and state. Though many of the sites are set up differently and some are easier to use, they are all great aids for educators to view their schools performance.

The NCES collects and analyzes the statistics of American education, while providing data on national test scores and surveys from across the nation. This site will providethe most accurate test data on the internet as it is overseen by the Department of Education and provides information on all U.S. school systems.

I chose this website because it displays the statics of the performances of well-known tests by regions.  This website was created to help evaluate the progress a specific region is making in education.  They have scores recorded by tests and grade level.  The website even breaks the scores down into grade level and shows some practice questions for the subjects.  It is a very useful website for teachers to see if they are teaching their students what other students' around the nation are learning.

Websites Providing Test Data from National, State, and Local Educational Resources

I chose this website because it is in fact called the National Center for Education Statistics. It "is the primary federal entity for collecting and analyzing data related to education." It contains an overwhelming amount of data on national test scores, surveys, programs, and annual reports. The website is run by the U.S. Department of Education and The Institute of Education Sciences. There is also a map of the nation's district and demographics in the school systems. This website seems to be the most useful when in need of finding test data and/or any useful educational data.
