Legal and Ethical Issues for Using Technology in the Classroom
With technology being extremely important in a classroom setting, many legal issues can come about. Teachers and students can work together to try to minimize their risks of doing so. They need to be aware of what they write as their ‘own words’ and make sure they cite information that isn’t there’s. Now a day, teaching is becoming a more difficult job but technology can actually help teachers and students become more successful.
In the article I read, they came up with some reasons why there are some problems educators find in having a large amount of technology in a classroom, for example, technology can be a distraction and students can sometimes be unclear of the expectations of technology use in a classroom. On the other hand, technology does encourage teacher to student discussion just as well as student to student discussion. Also, technology can give students various ways of communicating and learning new topics. It can open their minds to new and fun ways of learning! I think that if the teachers do their job to make sure the students understand the technology within their classroom and are using it to benefit learning and not plagiarizing, that technology, in the end will be a great factor in the future of the next generations of students!

Liz,
I agree with your second slide that "communication between teachers and students would be a big help". The teachers need to convey to their students how to properly use the internet and technology in the classroom at the beginning of the school year and need to keep reinforcing in throughout the school year. Once it is "drilled" into their heads, they will know what is right and what is wrong. We also know that technology is a huge distraction for students so I think some of the focus should be on that as well and how to prevent procrastination with technology as well.
