A concern regarding technology in the classroom is that much of the modern technology is very passive. For example, television will not provide children with the quality and quantity of crucial emotional, physical, social or cognitive experiences they require as children. As a child develops they require the right combination of experiences at certain times for optimum development. Teaching children from a television rather than interactively teaching could prevent them from opportunities for developmental experiences. Children, as they are growing up, need real time social interactions and technology has the opportunity to prevent that from happening. Interactive technologies allow children to develop their problem solving, independent thinking skills and curiosity; this form of technology benefits and has a positive effect on a Childs development.

I completely agree. Children tend to learn and achieve when they are able to really interact when learning. Your powerpoint was great. I liked how you described each form of technology and gave examples of each.
Hey Chris, you did a great job on explaining the problems with technology in the classroom. I completely agree that it takes away the social interaction. As technology increases, the need for social interaction decreases. Great PowerPoint as well -- very easy to follow along and you touched based on your major points and left unnecessary detail out. Overall, great job!
